Practical SoapUI Course Delivered with Great Success

Our newest course, Fundamentals of SoapUI, was held for the first time in September with such great success and demand that we decided to schedule an additional session already in November.

100% of participants said they would recommend the course to others when completing their post-course evaluation. As a result, we have created a new session in 2016, taking place on November 22–23 in Ballerup.

What Are SOA and SoapUI?

Today, many companies build their IT architecture using a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). The reason is that IT is becoming increasingly complex (as illustrated in the diagram above). More systems need to work together, and business and market demands are changing faster than ever before. Flexibility and time to market are therefore key priorities in any IT organization.

Building solutions using SOA can be an effective way to meet business and market demands for continuous adaptation and rapid development of new IT solutions.

With SOA, services can be exposed, reused, and replaced as needs arise. This architecture also makes it easier to isolate individual components and, consequently, the testing effort—making it simpler and more efficient to ensure high-quality solutions.

In addition to testing each component separately, it is also important to test and quality-assure the service layer within the architecture in order to isolate or rule out potential defects. SoapUI is a tool that helps you test the service layer itself.

What Is SoapUI?

SoapUI is a free application and part of the commercial tool Ready! API, used for testing Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) and Representational State Transfers (REST). SoapUI can test both SOAP and REST web services. The tool has been downloaded more than 2 million times worldwide, and we have seen it gain strong momentum in the Danish market in recent years.

The functionality in SoapUI includes web service inspection, simulation and mocking, functional testing, load and performance testing, as well as compliance testing.

Course Objective

The purpose of the course is to provide a fundamental understanding of what SoapUI is, what it can do, and how to use it in daily work. Participants will gain the following outcomes:

  • Working hands-on with SoapUI
  • Understanding the structure and workings of services
  • Collaborating effectively with web service developers
  • Building efficient data-driven tests
  • Maintaining a self-developed API client
  • Working with service simulation and mocking
  • Gaining a basic understanding of XML, WSDL, and SOAP
  • Understanding when and where SoapUI can be used

Feedback from Previous Participants:

I really appreciate the practical examples, the hands-on exercises, and the great slides that I can use when I return to work.

“I appreciate the hands-on exercises and the opportunity to work with concrete tasks that relate directly to my daily work.”
