Blog, December 19, 2017

The year is coming to an end, and we have therefore created a summary of everything that happened in 2017.
As the year draws to a close, we have taken the opportunity to look back at our course activities. We experienced tremendous growth in this area, which must be a sign that more companies and departments are taking testing and quality assurance more seriously.
In this post, we provide an overview of the areas in which our participants have strengthened their competencies over the past year.

STRONG GROWTH IN OUR TRAINING AREA
Never before have we offered so many course sessions at Trifork QI. We have grown across all areas and welcomed more participants to our courses in both Jutland and Zealand.
In 2017, we achieved a 34% increase in the number of participants compared to the previous year. It is truly encouraging to see so many organizations focusing on developing their employees’ competencies within testing and quality assurance.
The positive growth means that in 2018 we can offer even more course sessions, providing greater flexibility when you plan your training.

MORE THAN 500 PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED OUR COURSES IN 2017
In 2017, more than 500 participants attended our courses. They expanded their knowledge on topics ranging from the fundamentals of the testing process and test techniques to agile terminology and web service testing.
We have welcomed participants from traditional testing departments, but in 2017 we also saw a significant increase in other roles and job titles attending our courses. Participants included project managers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, developers, and architects.

WE DELIVERED 65 COURSES IN 2017
In 2017, we delivered a total of 65 courses in Aarhus and Ballerup. We are pleased that over the past two years we have been able to offer more and more courses, especially in Jutland. In 2018, we will offer even more courses in both Jutland and Zealand.

DISTRIBUTION BETWEEN CERTIFIED AND NON-CERTIFIED COURSES
Preferences vary from organization to organization when it comes to courses with or without certification. Some prefer to follow an industry standard, while others focus more on ensuring the course reflects their daily team or organizational context.
57% of our participants attended a course with a final certification exam. These included courses such as ISTQB Foundation, ISTQB Agile Tester Extension, and Certified Agile Tester (CAT). One advantage of certification courses is that they follow an internationally defined industry standard.
43% of our participants attended practical, non-certified courses in 2017.

DISTRIBUTION ACROSS COURSE CATEGORIES
15% of participants attended our technical courses in 2017, such as Fundamentals of SoapUI and Basic SQL for Testers. This represents a slight increase compared to 2016 (13%). We expect this category to grow further in 2018, as we plan to launch additional technical courses.
Agile courses accounted for 30% of all courses attended in 2017. This is almost a doubling compared to 2016, when 16% of participants attended agile courses.
55% attended more traditional courses within testing and quality assurance, such as ISTQB Foundation, Fundamentals of Structured Testing, and Test Techniques.

HIGH SATISFACTION WITH OUR COURSES
At Trifork QI, we place great importance on our participants’ feedback—whether they are satisfied and whether the courses meet their expectations. We ask all participants what worked well and what can be improved for each course. This ensures continuous improvement and alignment between course content and participant expectations.

97% Recommendation Rate
97% of our participants would recommend the course they attended during the year to others.

87% Pass Rate
Across all certification courses with a final exam, we achieved an overall pass rate of 87%.

92% Course Delivery Guarantee
92% of all planned course sessions in 2017 were successfully delivered with high satisfaction.

In 2017, our instructors received an average rating of 4.9 out of 5.

WE LAUNCHED 4 NEW COURSES IN 2017
We live in a changing world where new needs emerge and others disappear. We therefore continuously focus on adapting our existing courses and developing new ones.
With more than 50 consultants at Trifork QI working on various projects across industries and facing diverse challenges, we have deep insight into the issues many IT projects encounter. These are the challenges we aim to address in our courses.
In 2017, we launched four new courses—and we expect to introduce new ones again in 2018.

TOP 3 COURSES IN 2017
The three most popular courses in 2017, measured by number of participants, were:
